Guernsey Post Delivers in time for Christmas

Guernsey Post has almost completed its busiest period in the year, delivering thousands of Christmas cards and presents to families and businesses all over the Bailiwick.

This year our posties have had to contend with the adverse weather conditions, most notably gale force winds and heavy rain. Despite this challenge, by Christmas Eve, all cards and parcels will have been delivered and the Christmas post that arrives tomorrow morning will also be delivered in time for the big day.

George Jennings, Director of Operations at Guernsey Post said:
"Once again, due to the increasing trend towards internet shopping, we have seen the number of packets and parcels we deliver increase substantially, and this year we expect that growth to be in the region of 30%."

The number of Christmas cards posted locally has declined by 10% this year, but due to strong growth in bulk mail exports and parcels we are likely to see an overall increase in the volumes handled.

Bailiwick posties have been working additional hours and Guernsey Post has put on a number of extra parcel deliveries during December to cope with the uplift in mail volumes. Fourteen extra planes were also required to transport mail into and out of Guernsey over the course of the month.
